Spain's Housing Market Sees 1.6% Growth in June, Ending Five-Month Decline
The Spanish real estate market witnessed a significant positive shift in June, marking the end of a five-month consecutive streak of declines in home sales. This change in trend offers a breath of fresh air for the sector and provides a renewed outlook for property owners and prospective buyers across the country. According to the latest data, home sales experienced a modest yet encouraging increase of 1.6% in June compared to the same month last year. This advance is crucial as it reverses the slowdown observed since the beginning of the year. Despite this monthly improvement, the first half of 2026 concludes with an accumulated 347,464 transactions, representing a 2.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, which means approximately 10,000 fewer sales. Although activity has not reached the peaks of the previous year, the current volume remains remarkably high, positioning 2026 as the second year with the highest number of sales in the last decade for this point in time. Historically, it is the third-best record since statistics began, only surpassed by the 2007 housing bubble year, which saw over 432,000 sales in its first half. For owners, this stabilization and slight growth in June suggests an underlying resilience of the market, which could translate into greater confidence and more stable selling conditions. For buyers, the situation indicates that, although the market has moderated its pace compared to the record year of 2025, it remains highly active. Opportunities persist in an environment where demand stays strong, but with a potential deceleration of prices that could benefit those looking to acquire property. It is a key moment to assess the market with updated information.
